EASTINGTON near STONEHOUSE WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 & 2 only - Detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Val Taylor 2013

The Eastington near Stonehouse war memorial takes the form of a stone cross mounted on a two tier plinth with bronze plaques surrounding and stands in the churchyard of St Michael and All Angels Church, Eastington, Gloucestershire. 29 men are commemorated on this monument, 22 from World War 1 and 7 from World War 2. The memorial was unveiled by Brigadier J E Bush CB in August 1920; the Rt Reverend Bishop Foddam led the prayers.

The names appear twice; first carved on the four vertical sides of the plinth bearing the cross, then again, on bronze panels fixed horizontally round a lower step, which were added in 1995 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of VE Day.
