[Spelt as phonetically on memorial as COX] Sergeant L/8026, 1st Battalion, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). Killed in action 20th October 1914. Aged 29. Born Ham., Eastry, Dover, enlisted Canterbury, resident Deal. Son of the late Charles Cocks, of Eastry; husband of A. E. Taylor (formerly Cocks), of "Newark," Herschell Rd., Lower Walmer, Kent. Commemorated on PLOEGSTEERT MEMORIAL, Comines-Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium. Panel 2.

Lance Corporal 10769, 4th Battalion, Kings Royal Rifle Corps. Died 6th November 1918 aged 24 years. Born Sandwich. Enlisted Canterbury. Resided Sandwich.
JOHNSON John
Private G/5560, 6th Battalion, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). Died 3rd May 1917. Born Eastry. Enlisted Sandwich. Resided Sandwich. Elder brother of Frederick Edward Johnson.

WAITHMAN Alfred Holden Wilson
Gunner 314397, South Midland (Warwickshire) Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died 21st June 1917 aged 25 years. Born Birmingham. Enlisted Birmingham.
