MANCHESTER, TREASURER'S DEPARTMENT WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 & 2 - Detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Stephen Nulty 2008

The Manchester Treasurer's Department Roll of Honour and War Memorial is to be found in the entrance vestibule of the City Treasurer's Office, Manchester Town Hall, Albert Square, Manchester. There are actually two boards, the smaller one recording those who died and the larger one showing those who served (including the 10 who died). Only those who died are listed here. The Roll of Honour contains 71 names in all. The war memorial is in the form of a polished wood board with ebony inlay around the edges and gold lettering. In the top, centre, is a bronze medallion similar to the obverse of the British Victory medal. At each side there are three original cap badges of local Regiments including the Manchester Regiment, Lancashire Fusliers, Cheshire Regiment and Royal Artillery with the coloured city arms appearing at the top of the frame. There are also three names for World War 2.
