The village war memorial is to be found within the church grounds and takes the form of a cross on a tapering shaft mounted on a plinth with a four-stepped base. There are 14 names for World War 1 and 2 for World War 2.

[Private on memorial.] Corporal 207, 8th Battalion, Australian Light Horse. Killed in action 4rd May 1915. Aged 23. Born Martin. Son of James William Baker Atkin and Annie Baker of Church End, West Walton, Wisbech. Brother of Mrs. H Dolby also of Church End. . Farmer by trade. Educated at Martin by Timberland National School. Emigrated aged 17. Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM). Buried in DAMASCUS WAR CEMETERY. D.72. Australian Roll of Honour.

Possibly Arthur Charles Baker. Private 242788. 1st Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, formerly 25038 Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 1st September 1918. Born Lincoln and enlisted Sleaford, Lincs. Commemorated H.A.C CEMETERY, Ecoust-St Mein. II.A.3.

Possibly Private 87510. Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). Killed in action 30th November 1917. Son of Ernest Robert and Mary Maria Baker. Born South Stoke and enlisted Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated CAMBRAI MEMOTIAL, Louverval. Panel 12 and 13.

Private. The 1901 census for Rowston, Lincs has a listing for Joseph Franklin and his wife Mary, who had the maiden name of Speed, and their household is an adopted son, George Speed, aged 10, a schoolboy, born Carlton Scroopt, Lincolnshire, resident Lowfield, Rowston, Sleaford, Lincolnshire.

[Also spelt Aleck] Private 21368, 10th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action in France 28th April 1917. Aged 20. Born and resident Martin, enlisted Grimsby. Son of Samuel and Mary Ware, baptised 15 July 1896 in Martin, Lincolnshire, resident Martin (near Kirkstead), Lincolnshire. In the 1901 census he is the son of Samuel and Sarah Ware, aged 4, born Martin, Lincolnshire, resident Mill Lane, Martin, Sleaford, Lincolnshire. When he attested 18 November 1915 he was living at 22 Bueler Street, Grimsby, aged 19 years 183 days, a Foods Porter, unmarried. Embarked at Southampton 28th June 1916 posted 2nd Battalion, posted 10th Battalion, Lincolsnhire Regiment 12th July 1916. He was a member of the National Union of Railwaymen, aged 17, admission 1913 at Kirkstrad originally Bowne as a Porter. Buried in POINT-DU-JOUR MILITARY CEMETERY, Athies, Pas de Calais, France.
