THIMBLEBY WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 & 2 - Roll of Honour with detailed information
Compiled and Copyright © Michael Peck 2008

There are memorials and Rolls of Honour within St Margaret’s Church, Thimbleby. There is a framed roll of honour mounted on door with the dedication in gold inside a banner across the top of the roll. The title of the memorial is in black with gold capitalisation and the names are handwritten beneath, one column for each war. There is an ornamented border of oak leaves, shields and religious statements. RIP and the dates are written next to the names of those who died. The World War 1 memorial is in the form of a white and grey marble wall tablet mounted on a support tablet. The left and right hand edges of the main tablet are mainly straight with curved sections protruding at the top and bottom parts of the edge. The head of the tablet is arched. The inscription is in black incised lettering. The World War 2 is a rectangular wall mounted tablet on a backing with black incised lettering.
