In the National School Admission Register, his date of birth is given as 20 July 1895 and he was the son of Frank Thorington, admitted to St Margaret's National/Church of England School 2 September 1902, resident Tennyson Lodge, Tennyson Avenue, King's Lynn, left 15 November 1907 to become a Plumber, previously educated at St Peter's Ipswich. Frank Thorington had a connection with Gaywood and his family still lived in the area when Frank was killed on 26 October 1917. He married Blanche Ellen Chapman on 24 November 1914 in Seaton Ross in the Pocklington area of Yorkshire. They had a daughter, Margaret A. Thorington in 1915. Blanche Ellen gave birth to their daughter, Alice in the spring of 1918, a few months after Frank’s death. In the 1911 to 1915 Electoral Registers a Frank Thorington was resident in Wootton Road, Gaywood. In the 1924 Electoral Register his parents Frank and Emma Ann Thorington are listed in the Electoral Register with his brother William resident Lynn Road, Gaywood, Norfolk.
