The memorial can be found in the grounds of All Saints Church, Church Road, Tilney All Saints, Norfolk. It takes the form of a tall celtic style cross that stands on a plinth upon which are two plaques, one for World War 1 (13 names) and one for World War 2 (3 names).

1914-18

BART Herbert Baker
Gunner 70657, 117th (Warwick) Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died of wounds 1 January 1917. Aged 31. Son of M A & J Bart, Tilney All Saints. Buried in Grove Town Cemetery, Meaulte, Somme, France. Plot II. Row J. Grave 32.
BROWNE Macolm
Sapper 528503, Base Signal Depot, Royal Engineers. Died 4 May 1917. Husband of Edith Brown, of Willow Farm, Mill Rd, Wiggenhall St Mary's, Norfolk. Buried in Savona Town Cemetery, Italy.

On 4 May 1917, the Hired Transport "Transylvania", proceeding to Salonika with reinforcements, was sunk by torpedo off Cape Vado, a few kilometres south of Savona, with the loss of more than 400 lives. The bodies recovered at Savona were buried two days later, from the Hospital of San Paulo, in a special plot in the town cemetery. Others are buried elsewhere in Italy, France, Monaco and Spain. SAVONA TOWN CEMETERY contains 85 Commonwealth burials of the First World War, all but two of them casualties of the "Transylvania". There are also a number of Merchant seamen buried in the cemetery whose deaths were not due to war service. Within the cemetery is the SAVONA MEMORIAL, which commemorates a further 275 casualties who died when the "Transylvania" went down, but whose graves are not known.

Captain G Watson Failes

Captain Gerald Watson Failes, Norfolk Regiment, was killed in action on the 15th Inst. He was 23 years of age and was the son of Mr Watson Failes, of the Limes, Tilney St Lawrence, Kings Lynn. He had been on active service for over 3 years, and had previously been wounded. At the outbreak of war he enlisted as a trooper in a cavalry Regiment, and was later given a commission. He was awarded the Military Cross for a particularly brilliant exploit, and was regarded as an extremely capable officer, and was held in high esteem by his men.

Private 9055, B Company, 1st Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action 31 January 1915. Aged 20, Wulverghem sector. Born Hilgay, enlisted King's Lynn. Son of James & Ellen Gotsell, Fairgreen, Middleton, King's Lynn. No known grave. Commemorated on Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Ieper, Belgium.
KELTON Victor
Ordinary Seaman, J/64278, HMS Gaillardia, Royal Navy. Died 22 March 1918. No known grave. Commemorated on Chatham Memorial, Kent.
NEWTON, MM William
Corporal 9288, 7th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action 12 October 1916. Born Wisbech, enlisted Norwich. Buried in Beaulencourt British Cemetery, Ligny-Thilloy, France.
REEVE Norman
Private 1622, Royal Army Medical Corps (TF). Died 5 September 1915, at home. Aged 18. Son of James & Annie Reeve, Church Farm, Tilney All Saints. Buried in the South-West part of Terrington St Clement Wesleyan Churchyard. Also listed Terrington St Clement.

ROBINSON Frank Stanley
Lance Sergeant 9257, 2nd Battalion, Coldstream Guards. Killed in action 24 December 1914. Aged 22, at Le Touret. Son of Kate Maud Sainty, King's Lynn. No known grave. Commemorated on Le Touret Memorial, France.

From Andy Pay's research into the Marquis de Ruvigny' s Roll of Honour Volume 1, Part 1, Page 309, the following:

ROBINSON, Frank Stanley. Lance Corporal, number 9257, 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards. Son of the late Mr Robinson by his wife Catherine (now wife of Mr Sainty of 1 Baptist Lane, Broad street, Kings Lynn). Born Tilney All Saints, co. Norfolk 29 December 191891. Educated Tilney All Saints Public School, enlisted 18 September 1911, served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders and was killed in action at Festubert 24 December 191914, unmarried.

His Commanding officer, Lord Northland (since killed), writing to his mother said "You have indeed lost a gallant son and the Regiment a promising non commissioned officer".

Private 22384, 8th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action 19 July 1916. Aged 20. Born Tilney All Saints, enlisted King's Lynn. Son of John & Eliza Rush, Tilney All Saints. No known grave. Commemorated on Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. Pier and Face 1 C and 1 D.
