Naval Volunteer Reserve. Died of wounds at 10.15pm 7 November 1917
in 10th Casualty Clearing Station with shotgun wounds to the right
side (recieved the same day). Aged 28. Born 5 January 1891. Son
of James William and Elizabeth Abbott, of 14, Melton Road, Wellingborough
Records list him as lving at Little Harroden, Wellingboro, Northamptonshire.
Prior to enlistment he was employed in the Gas Department Midland
Railway. Height 5 feet 7½ inches, chest 36½ inches,
fair hair, grey eyes. Enlisted 11 November 1915 ; with draft for
Brtiish Expeditionary Force 10 July 1916, subsequently joined Howe
Battalion 13 November 1916 until 17 February 1917 when he recived
gunshot wounds to the chest (slight), and was invalided back to
the United Kingdom 27 February 1917; when recovered he was sent
with the draft for Brtiish Expeditionary Force 15 July 1917, rejoined
Howe Battalion 10 July 1917 until his death. Buried in LIJSSENTHOEK
MILITARY CEMETERY, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Plot XXII. Row E. Grave
