World War 1 & The Emergency

There are several memorials within St. John's church, Ipoh, Perrak, Malaysia mainly inset into the surrounding wooden rails affixed to the walls. One is for World War 1, another the Hussars in the Emergency, and a further one from the Worcestershire Regiment who served there.

CAMPBELL	Cecil Audrey	[Listed as Cecil Awdry Campbell on CWGC & SDGW] Lieutenant, 250th Tunnelling Company, Royal Engineers. Drowned 4th October 1918. Aged 33. Son of the late Lorne A. Campbell (I.C.S.) and Cecilia L. Campbell. No known grave. Commemorated on HOLLYBROOK MEMORIAL, SOUTHAMPTON. See also Ipoh War memorial

DAVIES	John Anthony	Second Lieutenant 432911, 15th/19th King's Royal Hussars. Killed when his armoured car overturned on Raub to Grik run 27th August 1954. Aged 24. Born 25th August 1930. Buried in Kamunting Road Christian Cemetery, Taiping, Perak. Row E. Grave 44.
FITCHETT	Peter John	[Listed as T J Fitchett on memorial] Trooper 22941189, 15th/19th King's Royal Hussars. Died 5th December 1954. Aged 20. Born 16th January 1934. Buried in Kamunting Road Christian Cemetery, Taiping, Perak. Row E. Grave 45.
BRUCE	Duncan Campbell	Trooper 22992783, 15th/19th King's Royal Hussars. Died accidentally 31st May 1955. Aged 21. Born 8th June 1933, Buried in Kamunting Road Christian Cemetery, Taiping, Perak. Row E Grave 47.
THOMPSON	Cyril Edward	Sergeant 551976, 15th/19th King's Royal Hussars. Died accidentally 16th April 1956. Aged 41. Born 18th December 1914. Buried in Kamunting Road Christian Cemetery, Taiping, Perak. Row E. Grave 53.
SUMMERS	George	Trooper 23224286, 15th/19th King's Royal Hussars. Died when his armoured car was in collision with the Ipoh to Penang mail train 24th June 1956. Aged 19. Born 25th April 1937. Buried in Kamunting Road Christian Cemetery, Taiping, Perak. Plot E Grave 60.
SMITH	Walter John	Trooper 23237864, 15th/19th King's Royal Hussars. Died when his armoured car was in collision with the Ipoh to Penang mail train 24th June 1956. Aged 19. Born 29th January 1937. Cremated at Sek Keng Cheng Crematorium, Kuala Lumpur and ashes returned to the UK.
