The SS Glen Avon was a P & A Campbell Paddle Steamer. Launched in 1912 she saw service during World War 1 as a minesweeper and again in World War 2. She took part in the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk, transporting a total of 888 men. She was lost in severe weather off the Normandy coast on 2nd September, 1944
