Patcham
was a South Downs village that has now been engulfed by Brighton.
The Patcham Parish Church War Memorial for the 1914-1918 war is
in the form of a Memorial Cross in the Churchyard of All Saints
Parish Church. There are 26 Surnames for World War 1 with some Christian
Names. There are two burials in the Churchyard one not included
on the Memorial.

Son of William Gladman, of Shoreham, Sussex, England; husband
of Kate Buxton, (formerly Gladman), of 2, Hugo Avenue, Toronto,
Canada. Munition worker by trade. Enlisted and passed fit 13th
March 1916, aged 26 years 11 months in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Height 5 feet 5¾ inches, girth 36½ inches, complexion medium,
eyes grey, hair light brown, mole on left cheek. Religion Church
of England. Buried in Cantimore Canadian Cemetery, Sailly. See
