Foggia Main, Italy, in a Vickers Wellington X, serial number MF458,
when the aircraft was shot down by flak during a minelaying sortie
to the Danube, exploded during an attempted ditching, 5 October
1944. Aged 29. Native of Ayr. Son of William George and Catherine
Clynes Johnson, of Ayr. No known grave. Commemorated on MALTA MEMORIAL,
