PULLOXHILL WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 - Roll of Honour with detailed information
Compiled and copyright © 2002 Lynda Smith

The memorial is located in the churchyard by the path that leads to the church from the gate at The Parish Church of St James the Apostle, on Church Road, Pulloxhill. The memorial takes the form of a Celtic cross, on a battered pillar, which surmounts a battered pedestal on a base. The entire memorial is surrounded by deep chamfered kerb stones. Unfortunately much of the lettering is virtually unreadable. What can be read indicates that full name, rank, and date and place of death are recorded. There are 8 names listed for World War 1 and 5 names for World War 2. The memorial was made byS W Jarvis & Son of Bedford. it was deicated by The Vicar Reverend A E Houfe and unveiled by Mr A H Wingfield of Ampthill on 8 August 1920.
