COLLETT Edward John
Serjeant 12748 "C" Company, 5th Bn., Oxford. and Bucks Light Infantry who died of wounds on Tuesday, 1st May 1917. Age 31. Son of James and Sarah Collett, of Appleford, Berks; husband of Rose Elizabeth Collett, of Bedford Rd., Wilshamstead, Bedfordshire. Born Appleford, Berks, enlisted Oxford, resident Wilshamstead. Corporal 65166 128th Field Company, Royal Engineers who died of wounds on Saturday, 18th November 1916. Age 26. Husband of E. (Susan) Gale, of Wilstead, father of Cyril Ellis. Born at Cotton End, Bedfordshire. Born Cardington, enlisted Oxford, resident Bedford. Buried in WILSHAMSTEAD (or WILSTEAD) (ALL SAINTS) CHURCHYARD, Bedfordshire. In North part.
GAMBRIEL Percy William
Private 17903 2nd Bn., Bedfordshire Regiment who was killed in action on Saturday, 25th September 1915. Age 19. Son of Edward and Agnes Gambriel, of Wilstead, Bedfordshire. Born and resident Wilstead, enlisted Bedford. Commemorated on LOOS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panel 41.
HYDE Alfred

Private 1st Class 209333 Royal Air Force who died on Friday, 12th July 1918. Age 24. Son of Joshua George and Sarah Hyde, of Littleworth, Wilstead. Buried in North part of WILSHAMSTEAD (or WILSTEAD) (ALL SAINTS) CHURCHYARD, Bedfordshire.

Alfred Hyde - Essex County Constabulary.

Served from 17th June 1913. Died 12th July 1918. Police Constable Alfred Hyde was the son of Joshua George and Sarah Hyde, of Littleworth, near Wilstead in Bedfordshire. He served with Essex County Constabulary from 17th June 1913 to 17th November 1915. He died from disease on Friday, 12th July 1918 whilst serving as Private 1st Class 209333 Royal Air Force. He was aged 24 and unmarried. He was buried in the north part of Wilstead (All Saints) Churchyard in Bedfordshire. Police Constable 431. Serial Number 2794.

Private 33067 2nd Bn., Border Regiment who was killed in action on Saturday, 24th March 1917. Age 21. Born and resident Wilstead, enlisted Bedford. Son of Joseph and Elizabeth Irons, of Littleworth, Wilstead, Bedfordshire. Formerly 7003 Middlesex Regiment. Buried in CROISILLES BRITISH CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France. Grave III. A. I.
IRONS Frank
Private 20491, 8th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Killed in action on Friday 15th September 1916. Born and resident Wilstead, enlisted Bedford. Commemorated on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 2 C
KIFFORD James
Private 23817 8th Bn., King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regt.) who died of wounds on Thursday, 12th April 1917. Age 28. Born Hemsworth (probably Kensworth), enlisted Bedford. Son of the late Henry Kifford and Mary Sarah Kifford nee Hammond. Buried in DUISANS BRITISH CEMETERY, ETRUN, Pas de Calais, France. Grave I. Q. 3. Son of James and Sarah Sugars, of Wilstead; husband of A. A. Sugars, of Littleworth, Wilstead. Buried near North-East corner of WILSHAMSTEAD (or WILSTEAD) (ALL SAINTS) CHURCHYARD, Bedfordshire.

Enlisted at Croydon into the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment embodied Territorial Army and posted to 7th Battalion 22nd June 1940 posted to 70th Battalion 19th September 1940 posted to 3 Commando 19th February 1942. Promoted to Lance Corporal 16th October 1943 reported missing in North West Europe 07th June 1944. Now confirmed killed in action 07th June 1944. Served with the Colours: 22nd June 1940 to 07th June 1944.
