This
database contains details of the men were awarded the DCM while serving
with the Bedfordshire Regiment in World War 1. In some cases there are
more than one entry where a BAR was added to the medal. You can either

The
medal was introduced in 1854 and is the oldest British award for gallantry
and second only to the Victoria Cross, the Distinguished Conduct Medal
(DCM) was awarded to enlisted personnel, non-commissioned officers and
warrant officers of any nation, in any branch of the service, for distinguished
conduct in battle. For each subsequent act of gallantry, the recipient
was awarded a silver, laurelled bar.
