World War 1 & 2 - Roll of Honour with detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Martin Edwards 2008

The memorial is to be found in the Recreation Ground, Charborough Road, Broadstone, and is located on the north side. It takes the form of a base upon which is set a square plinth, a column and then a figure of a female figure in mourning. The inscription is carved on one side of the column and around the top of the plinth. The names are listed as "killed by enemy action" or "killed on active service" and are affixed to the memorial on plaques. The figure of soldiers and sailors are carved into two sides of the plinth. There are 44 names for World War 1 and 30 for World War 2. The memorial was dedicated in 1920; the designer was Mr Gilbert Bayes. There are also memorials at John The Baptist Church and as a School memorial, these contain some of the names listed on the main memorial and some that are not. To indicate which belong to which memorial they have been identified with ‡ for main memorial, † for John the Baptist Church and § for the School.

Note: The names have been sorted here into true alphabetical order for ease of research and reading.
