LITTLE HORKESLEY WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 - Roll of Honour with detailed information
Compiled and copyright © 2004 Martin Edwards
document supplied by Lynne Langford

There are two memorials within Little Horksley, one within the church and another in the village. The village memorial is to be found at the crossroads in the village opposite pub. It takes the form of a Latin cross on tapered shaft atop a plinth with a one step base surrounded by iron railings and contains the same names as the church plaque; there are no names for World War 2 just World War 1. It was unveiled and dedicated 30th May 1920, the builders were Messrs. Deaves and Son. These details were originally taken from the original dedication sheet used for the unveiling of the memorial. The war memorial, located at the parish church, was unveiled by W. OTTER-BARRY, Esq., on Sunday 30th May 1920 after the 3 o'clock service.
