Southsea is a seaside resort and geographic area, located in Portsmouth at the southern end of Portsea Island, Hampshire. There is a memorial to the 44 officers and men of HMS Trident who died of Yellow Fever in Sierra Leone 1859 to be found on the Clarence Esplanade, Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire. The memorial is in the form of a needle on a square plinth mounted on a three stepped base.
