The Hitchin Grammar School World War 1 memorial takes the form of a stained glass window in the Boys School Library, Grammar School Walk, Hitchin. The names here have been taken from the Roll of Honour published in the Hitchin Grammar School Chronicle, Spring Number 1921.

A notably fine sportsman in both the first 11 for cricket and principle bowler, vice captain of the football team and a decent swimmer in his own right. No known grave. In the 1901 census he is living with his wiodowed father, Henry, aged 4, born Hertfordshire, resident Brook End, St Ippolyts, Ippollitts, Hitchin. IN the 1911 cenus his father Henry had married Elizabeth, he was aged 14, at schoool, born Ippolletts, Hertfordshire, resident Brook End, St Ippolyts Hitchin. Buried in ASHFORD CEMETERY, Kent. Grave 7125.
