The Conington War Memorial is to be found in the churchyard of All Saints Church (Redundant), Church Lane, Conington. It takes the form of a carved, Celtic, granite, cross on a plinth that contains the inscription. There are five names listed for World War 1.

Bedfordshire Regiment. Private 19735, aged 39 8th Battalion, The Bedfordshire Regiment 6th Division. Killed in action on the Somme 18th October 1916. Husband of Eliza Harriett Martha Hall of Holme Lane Cottage, Conington, Hunts. Born in Madingley and enlisted in Bedford. Commemorated on The Thiepval Memorial MR 21.

Bedfordshire Regiment. Private 19848, aged 33, 4th Battalion, The Bedfordshire Regiment. 63rd Royal Naval Division. Wounded in action at Ypres and died in C.C.S. 31st October 1917. Husband of Mary Elizabeth Wright, Fen Farm, Conington, Conington Fen. Born in Conington. Enlisted in Huntingdon. Buried Duhallow A.D.S. Cemetery, Ypres,Belgium. B.20

BAXTER

Walter Harry

Border Regiment. Private 21079, 6th Battalion, Border Regiment. Died of wounds Thursday 3rd August 1916. Aged 23. Son of Emily Baxter of Conington. Born Conington and resident Conington, enlisted Norwich. Formerly 19292, Norfolk Regiment. Buried at Avesnes-Le-Comte Communal Cemetery Extension, Pas de Calais.

Herbert E

Northants Regiment. Private 7604, 1st Battalion, Northants Regiment. Killed in action 17th September 1914. Aged 26. Born Sawtry, hunts, enlisted Peterborough. Son of Mr and Mrs H.Rowell of High Street, Sawtry. Husband of Alice Mary Rowell of North Rd, Conington. Commemorated on the memorial at La Ferte-Sous-Jourre, Seine-et-Marne.

HARRISON

Christopher

Northants Regiment. Private, 31076, 5th Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment. Killed in action 19th October 1917. Enlisted Northampton. Buried at Feuchy Chapel Briitish Cemetery, Wancourt.
