JAMES Herbert [ Bert] [Memorial states Private, 2nd Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment.] Private 27489, 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Killed in action Sunday 23rd July 1916. Born Stow, Cambs, enlisted Bedford, resident Long Stow, Cambridgeshire. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 2 C
DAWSON Walter [Arthur] Private 20973, 2nd Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Died of wounds Tuesday 4th July 1916. Born and resident Stow, Hunts, enlisted Bedford. Age 19. Son of William Samuel and Hannah Dawson, of Stow Longa, Kimbolton, Huntingdon. Buried in CORBIE COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, Somme, France. Plot I. Row B. Grave 24.
