The Burwell memorial is to be found in the redundant parish church of St Michael, Burwell. It takes the form of a dark, stone tablet on the wall inside the church. There are four names listed for World War 1, none for World War 2.

Private 6447. 9th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. Died of wounds 11th August 1915, aged 19 years. Son of Walter and Elizabeth Barker of 51 Muskham Street, Nottingham, Notts. Born Swaby (CWGC) or Withern (SDGW), Lincs, enlisted Chelsea, Mdx and resident Swaby, Lincs. Commemorated CITE BONJEAN MILITARY CEMETERY, Armentieres. IX.A.33.

BUTLER

Richard Henry

Gunner 55127. Royal Garrison Artillery. Died home 7th March 1915, aged 23 years. Son of Charles Butler of Manor Lane, Haugham, Lincs. Born Walmsgate (CWGC) or Louth (SDGW), enlisted Louth and resident Lincoln, Lincs. Commemorated SOUTH ORMSBY (St Leonard) CHURCHYARD.

DAWSON

Possibly George William Dawson. Private 12982. 7th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 6th December 1915. Born Candlesby, enlisted Louth, Lincs and resident Kensington, Mdx. Commemorated MENIN ROAD SOUTH MILITARY CEMETERY. III.E.4.

Private 42523. 8th Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment, formerly 27191 Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 30th May 1918. Born Partney and enlisted Louth, Lincs. Commemorated SOISSONS MEMORIAL.
