There
are two memorials the first can be found at the junction of Market
Place and South Street. The memorial takes the form of a three stepped
octagonal base surmounted by octagonal plinth shaft and cross with
inscriptions on the sides of the plinth and top step; the whole is
enclosed by iron railings. There are 40 names for World War 1 and
13 for World War 2. The memorial was unveiled by Major Lord Worsley
and dedicated on 10th August 1920. Details appeared in the Lincolnshire
Star 21st August 1920. The second memorial is located inside the church
of St Peter and St Paul. The memorial takes the form of a section
of oak panelling within the church. The World War 1 inscription is
carved into the wood and the World War 2 names carved on boards attached
either side of the World War 1 inscription. There are 40 names for
World War 1 and 14 for World War 2. The memorial was unveiled and
dedicated by the Archdeacon of Stow 5th January 1921. Details appeared
in the Lincolnshire Star 8th January 1921.
