The arrangements for the camping of the South Midland Brigade of Yeomanry in Earl Bathurst's Deer Park, Cirencester, proceeded apace last week, and by Sunday the advance detachment of 100 Worcesters and 50 warwicks had dotted the space adjoining the Stroud road with some score tents. The Urban District Council also had a larger pipe laid down, and arrangements have been made for a daily supply of 30,000 gallons of water, rows of permanent troughs having been erected.

Tuesday provided plenty of evidence of the approaching arrival of the troops, truck-loads of kits, equipment and saddlery coming in by train. Of the main bodies the Gloucesters were the first to arrive. These, numbering, 430 officers and men, paraded at St. Michael's Square, Gloucester, shortly before 9 o'clock on Tuesday morning, and, headed by the Regimental Band (under Bandmaster F. Davies), were soon on the move for Cirencester via Birdlip. The journey was done at a walking pace, and on arrival at Cirencester about 2 o'clock they entered the town and wnet to the park by way of the Market Place and castle Street. Many hundreds of people assembled, having been attracted by the strains of the band.

The Warwicks arrived about 3.15, having journeyed from Moreton-in-Marsh, where they were billetted for the night, and the Worcesters came a little later by a special train on the M. & S.W.J. Railway via Cheltenham, while a train-load of chargers travelled per G.W.R.

A company of the R.A.M.C. also arrived at Watermoor Station during the afternoon and marched to the Park to the strains of the band. Tetbury Road was crowded with spectators until darkness set in, and during the evening the town was crowded with the visitors.

The Brigade is under the command of Brigadier-General G. Ll. Palmer, T.D. (formerly Lieutenant-Colonel of the Wiltshire Yeomanry), and the Brigade-Major is Captain Kennard, D.S.O. The Warwickshire Yeomanry is under the command of Colonel Frank Drydale, C.V.O., T.D., extra-equerry to the Queen. The Worcesters are commanded by Colonel W. W. Wiggin and the Gloucetsers by Lieutenant-C olonel R. P. Sademan. The Brigade Chaplin is Cannon Melville.
