In
the grounds of St. John The Baptist, Abthorpe.
Very Weathered but just about readable on a
Stone Cross with Plinth. In 2005 an extra plaque was added that contained
the inscriptions in a readable form. Below the memorial, inset into
the wall is a list of men who served and retured which is now hard to
read and has not been transcribed here.

and resident Mexborough, Yorkshire. Son of James and Emma Charlesworth,
of Mexborough, nr. Rotherham. Formerly 97886, Nottinghamshire
and Derbyshire Regiment. Buried in PERNES BRITISH CEMETERY, Pas
de Calais, France. Grave II. A. 36. probably
Rifleman, 4577, Edward Charlesworth, 1st King’s Royal Rifle
Corps. Killed in action 16th February 1917, aged 34. Born and
enlisted Sheffield, resident Towcester. Son of David and Amelia
Charlesworth, Sheffield; husband of Kate Charlesworth, Abthorpe,
Towcester, Northants. Buried in Ovillers Military Cemetery, Grave
