On 31st May 1916, HMS Queen Mary was part of the 1st Battle Cruiser Squadron that took part in the Battle of Jutland. During the battle HMS Queen Mary was hit by gunfire from the German vessels Seydlitz and Derfflinger and exploded, killing all but 8 of her 1,276 crew |
