Bignor is a small downland hamlet to the south of Petworth. There is a brass tablet in the church bearing the names of four men with Rank, Regiment and date of death. No losses for WW2.

BUTT Lewis John Dalgleish
Second Lieutenant, 16th Battalion, Rifle Brigade. 39th. Division. Killed in action on the Somme 4th July 1916. Son of The Rev Canon G. H. Butt (MA) & Mrs Butt. Husband of Mrs Marion Ida Butt of 130, Selhurst Road, South Norwood, London. Buried in Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richeborg L`Avoue.
NEWHAM Harry
Private G/21678, 10th Battalion, Royal West Surrey Regiment. 41st Division. Killed in action 14th February 1917. Born in Downton near Salisbury, Wilts. Enlisted in Brighton. Formerly with the Sussex Yeomanry. Buried in Klein-Vierstraat British Cemetery.
MORTON Gerald Arthur
Captain, 1st Battalion, Border Regiment. 29th Division. Killed in action on Gallipoli 2nd May 1915. Buried in Pink Farm Cemetery, Helles Gallipoli.
SMITH Julian Monder
Rifleman 1956, 4th Battalion, Rifle Brigade. 27th Division. Killed in action 9th March 1915. Born in Rogate and enlisted in Brighton. Next of kin residents of Poynings. Buried in Voormezeele Enclosure Nos 1 & 2
