Mess Room Boy, S.S. "Sea Serpent" (London), Mercantile Marine. Perished on board H.M Transport, SS Sea Serpent which was mined off Folkestone on the 23 March 1916. Born at Lewes. Son of Charles Clifford Barrow and Alice Barrow, of 4, Russell Terrace, Denton, Newhaven, Sussex. No known grave. Commemorated on TOWER HILL MEMORIAL, London. There is a wooden hymn board in the church to which a metal plaque has been attached which says: This board was made by Frederick William Barrow in the year 1913, the 13th year of his age, and presented to this church at Easter in the same year. |
