20 Names recorded on a tablet in the Parish Church of St. Margaret of Antioch. These are repeated on the large roadside Cross near the crossroads towards Keymer & Hassocks. THe tbalet in the church has a further 13 names added to main memorial (designed by Eric Gill). There are a further two extra burials for World War 2 in the Churchyard.

Aged 19. (5 killed 1 POW.) Son of Charles Richard and Emily Louisa Cottingham of Ditchling. Buried in Calais Canadian War Cemetery,Leubringhen.

Flying Officer (Pilot), 110 Bomber Squadron (Blenheim 1V), Royal Air Force. Shot down attacking German warships off the North coast of Oldenburg. The aircraft, operating from Wattisham, crashed into the German light cruiser ‘Emden’ killing all four crew members and nine German sailors 4th September 1939. Husband of Mrs Jocelyn Mary Emden of St. Leonards on Sea. Buried in Sage War Cemetery, Oldenburg, Germany.
