There is a Memorial inside the Church and a Memorial Cross in the Corner of the Churchyard. There are nine names on each, but the two do not quite agree. There are also three graves from 1914/18 in the Churchyard of St.Thomas

[Listed as BALDWIN Archibald L on memorial cross] Private 28186, 1/4th Battalion, The Kings Own (Royal Lancaster) Regiment. Died of wounds at St Omer 19th April 1918. Aged 20. Son of Joseph & Harriet Balding of South Lodge, Dorchester. Born in Belvedere, Kent and enlisted in Newbury, Berkshire. Buried in Longuenesse Souvenir Cemetery, St. Omer F. 134

FREEMAN

[Listed as Percy FREEMAN in church] Private G/2096, 8th Battalion, The Royal Sussex Regiment. 18th Division. Killed in action at Montauban 1st July 1916. Born in Winchelsea and enlisted in Rye. Commemorated on The Thiepval Memorial MR. 21.

Private TF/1103 1/5th Battalion, The Royal Sussex Regiment. 1st Division. Killed in action at Richbourg L`Avoue, 9th May 1915. Aged 21. Son of James & Fanny Griffin of 3,North Street, Winchelsea. Born in Winchelsea and enlisted in Rye. Buried in Rue des Barceaux Military Cemetery F. 632

Private TF/252163, 1st Battalion, The Essex Regiment. 37th Division. Died of wounds in Rouen 5th September 1918. Aged 46. Son of Henry & Ada Penny of "Rhosigar, North Street, Winchelsea. Enlisted in Hastings. Buried in St. Sever Cemetery Extension F. 146.

Private G/13643, 6th Battalion, The East Kent Regiment. 12th Division. Killed in action at Arras 6th May 1917. Son of William & Susannah Snashall of 3,Strand Terrace, Winchelsea. Born Horsmonden and enlisted in Cranbrook, Kent. Commemorated on The Arras Memorial MR. 20.

Gunner 72728, 31st Battery, 35th Brigade. Royal Field Artillery. Killed in action at Ypres 13th October 1917. Born in Hastings and enlisted in Maidstone. Next of kin Winchelsea. Buried in Hooge Crater Cemetery, Zillebeke, Belgium B. 112
