The Egton Bridge War Memorial is to be found on on the terrace outside St Hedda's Terrace, St Hedda Catholic Church, Egton Bridge, Whitby, Scarborough, North Yorkshire. It was unveiled 5 February 1921. There are nine names listed for World War 1 although we have included some extra names here.

BENNISON	C	Joseph Cyril Benninson. Private 17459. 8th Company, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), formerly 16405 Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment). Killed in action 1st October 1918, aged 23 years. Son of William and Mary Bennison of Egton Bridge, Yorks. Born Egton, enlisted Whitby and resident Grosmont, Yorks. Commemorated Ribecourt Road Cemetery. I.A.8.
GLENN	D	Daniel Patrick Glenn. Lance Corporal 15763. 1st Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment. Died home 31st March 1918, aged 27 years. Son of Patrick and Mary Ann Glenn of Bradford, Yorks. Born Egton Bridge and enlisted Whitby, Yorks. Commemorated Egton Cemetery.
HARRISON	Edmund	Pioneer 214461. 3rd Battalion, Spec Brigade, Royal Engineers, formerly 32120 King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Killed in action 27th February 1917. Husband of C A Harrison of Egton Bridge, Yorks. Born Egton, enlisted Whitby and resident Grosmont, Yorks. Commemorated Cite Bonjean Cemetery. III.F.18.
HODGMAN	Thomas	Private 41805. 2/4th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 21st March 1918, aged 25 years. Son of Thomas and Ann Hodgman of 49 Baxtergate, Whitby, Yorks. Husband of Jane Hodgman of Grosmont, Yorks. Born and enlisted Whitby, resident Grosmont, Yorks. Also served Gallipoli and Egypt. Commemorated Arras Memorial. Bay 3 and 4.
JEFFERSON	J	Possibly James Jefferson. Private 10067. 2nd Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action 10th March 1915. Born Glaisdale, enlisted Scarborough and resident Loftus, Yorks. Commemorated Le Touret Memorial. Panel 12.
MOORE	J	James Leo Moore. Private 12395. 13th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment. Died of wounds 24th November 1917. Born Egton Bridge, enlisted Whitby and resident Egton Bridge, Yorks. Commemorated Cambrai Memorial. Panel 5.
PEARSON	William	Bombardier 37817. A battery, 107th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Killed in action 18th August 1916, aged 24 years. Son of William and Margaret Pearson of Red House Farm, Egton Bridge, Yorks. Born and enlisted Whitby, Yorks. Commemorated Dantzig Alley British Cemetery. VII.E.4.
WALKER	F	Possibly Fred Walker. Driver 50574. 24th Div Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery. Killed in action 25th March 1918. Born and enlisted Whitby, Yorks. Commemorated Pozieres Memorial. Panel 7 to 10.
WALKER	John	Private 250694. 6th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry, formerly 28681 Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action 5th November 1916. Born Egton, enlisted Hinderwell and resident Egton, Yorks. Commemorated Thiepval Memorial. Pier and Face 14A and 15C.

HARRISON	Brian Isaac	Rifleman C/1089. 16th Battalion, King’s Royal Rifle Corps. Died of wounds 10th June 1916, aged 21 years. Son of Thomas and Alice Harrison of 45 Victoria Embankment, Darlington, DUR. Brother of Slater Harrison. Born Egton Bridge, Yorks and enlisted Darlington, DUR. Commemorated Bethune Town Cemetery. V.E.11.
HARRISON	Slater	Rifleman R/14682. 8th Battalion, King’s Royal Rifle Corps. Killed in action 3rd May 1917, aged 20 years. Son of Thomas and Alice Harrison of 45 Victoria Embankment, Darlington, DUR. Brother of Brain Isaac Harrison. Born Egton Bridge, Yorks and enlisted Darlington, DUR. Commemorated Arras Memorial. Bay 7.
