AYTON WAR MEMORIAL
World War 1 & 2 - Detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Michael Peck 2009
There are three forms of memorial within Great Ayton, the first is to
be found in All Saints Churchyard, Low Green, Great Ayton, Hambleton,
North Yorkshire. This memorial takes the form of a Celtic cross with
bosses set on a tapering shaft and a stepped plinth, the front face
of which has the dedicaton and names; the whole is set on four rough
hewn steps. There are 45 names listed for World War 1 and 17 for World
War 2. There is a dedicatory stained glass window within the church
for those who gave their lives in World War 2. In the church chapel
is a set of dedicatory panels.
