WILSON James Henry
Sergeant 5209, 6th Battalion, Border Regiment. Killed in action 5th October 1917. Aged 44. Born and enlisted Kendal, Westmorland. Son of James Henry and Agnes Wilson; husband of the late Frances Wilson (nee Hill), of 9, Abbott Hall Square, Highgate, Kendal, married 2 April 1904 in Kendal, Westmorland. He served with the 1st Battalion Border Regiment in the South African (Boer War) and was wounded in action. Re-enlisted in August 1914 and was posted to the 6th Battalion. He was wounded again on 9th August 1915 in the attack on Chocolate Hill at Suvla Bay but later re-joined the Battalion on the Western Front. No known grave. Commemorated on Tyne Cot Memorial, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panel 85 to 86.
